By Kelly Caylor
PhD student Anna Boser was awarded the 2024 AGU Science for Solutions Award, which recognizes significant contributions in applying Earth and space science to solve societal problems.

Congratulations to Anna Boser on receiving the 2024 AGU Science for Solutions Award!

Anna was recognized at the American Geophysical Union’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C. for her significant contributions in applying Earth and space science to solve societal problems. The award is given annually to a student or postdoctoral scientist whose work has real-world impact.

“Many researchers who have inspired my work—like Solomon Hsiang, Lorenzo Rosa, Kyle Davis and Noemi Vergopolan—have received this award in the past,” Anna said. “I feel very encouraged to continue in their footsteps to pursue research that will help bring solutions for our planet and its people.”

Anna is an agro-hydrologist, remote sensing scientist and machine learning practitioner. Her research aims to inform better water management practices that balance food security, sustainability and economic development—work that has never been more important.

We’re so proud of you, Anna!
