Kelly Caylor Receives UCSB's Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award
Kelly Caylor is one of this year’s recipients of the Academic Senate Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award at UC Santa Barbara. The award recognizes faculty who train graduate students for careers in research and teaching, and who prepare them to meet high professional and ethical standards. Recipients are selected by a committee of the campus Academic Senate, which reviews letters from current and former graduate students.
The nomination was organized by Matt Potoski and Naomi Tague at the Bren School, with supporting letters from students in the lab, past and present.
“I’m grateful and lucky to have such a supportive group of students,” Kelly said. “It is good to be at a place that values mentorship this much.”
Members of the lab have offered a competing theory, which is that the award belongs to the pizza oven.
