Emma Rigatti
PhD Student, Bren School of Environmental Science and Management
Biography
Emma is a PhD student at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management where she examines how Coast Live Oak trees respond to water stress through both field and modeling approaches. In particular, her research seeks to understand how plant physiology and structure mediates plant function in water-limited systems, and how these insights can be synthesized into a mechanistic model to bolster modeling efforts. Prior to Bren, Emma completed her BFA in Film and TV Production with a Double Major in Environmental Studies at NYU where she worked with Sonali McDermid to examine the impact of drought on terrestrial vegetation in the Western Sahel, and Masoud Ghandehari to understand the effects of heat stress in downtown NYC.
