Rachel Green

Rachel received her PhD from the Department of Geography at UC Santa Barbara, where she was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow studying drought impacts on agriculture, food security, and human displacement in East Africa using remote sensing, demographic data, and empirical dynamical modeling approaches.

Biography

Rachel Green is a PhD student at the University of California Santa Barbara and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. Originally from Maryland, she received her Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Conservation from the University of British Columbia. Previously she worked at NASA Ames Research Center with the NASA DEVELOP program on remote sensing of harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie and later with the Bay Area Environmental Research Institute developing a drought monitoring application for the Navajo Nation. Her research interests include integrating remotely sensed imagery and demographic data to study drought induced human displacement and livelihood change in East Africa.
