WAVES Lab at the AGU Fall Meeting 2026
The WAVES Lab and our collaborators will be at the AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco the week of 7 December. This year the group is on 18 abstracts, ten oral presentations and eight posters, covering irrigation and food security in Africa, tree water use and sap flow, river and wetland dynamics, and soil moisture and evapotranspiration measured from sensors and satellites.
Tuesday morning is the busiest stretch. Cella Schnabel and Anna Boser give back-to-back talks in session GC21A on commercial irrigation across sub-Saharan Africa and small-scale irrigation in Zambia. Huck Rees follows with a 41-year satellite record of the Okavango Delta’s flood pulse, and Kelly opens session H22K with an invited talk on scaling water, energy, and carbon fluxes. Huck presents again on Wednesday afternoon, this time on how long floodplain sediment stays in storage along alluvial rivers.
On the posters, Emma Rigatti starts the week on Monday morning with work on how canopy architecture shapes seasonal water use in coast live oak, and Ryoko Araki closes it on Thursday afternoon with a comparison of soil moisture drydowns seen by in-situ sensors and by satellites. Zoe Sims presents a global meta-analysis of corn intercropping on Wednesday morning.
All times are Pacific, and all rooms are in the Moscone Center. Poster numbers will be added once AGU assigns them.
